Weekend Update: Festival Weekend

This weekend is looking to be an absolutely gorgeous weekend. Weatherwise, it looks to be one of the best of the summer, so here’s some really great places to go, and just enjoy.

First off, out in Mystic, they have the 53rd Annual Outdoor Arts Festival. Over 250 artists from across the country will be displaying their works for both the public, and for professionally juried competition. In addition to the paintings and sculptures, there will be numerous food vendors and art oriented kids activities. Now tie this into Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, Olde Mystic Village, and the great restaurants such as Go Fish!, and The Steak Loft, you most def have a full day of entertainment, shopping, and dining.

Next up, in Guilford, Bishop’s Orchards will be hosting The Shoreline Wine Festival. Many of Connecticut vineyards and wineries will be there for you to sample their wares. Additionally, local vendors will be on site. Once you are done at the Wine Festival (they do have a special price for designated drivers) you can either head into the Farm market and pick up not only some of the freshest fruits around,  but also gourmet cheeses, meats, and fresh baked desserts. Or you can head out to the pick your own fields for the freshest fruit around.

You know I would not do a Weekend Update without mentioning music. Here’s your chance to enjoy the weather, friends and some amazing music all at once. The 38th Annual Woodbury Rockfest is happening all weekend at the Woodbury Ski area. Now we are talking some serious rock here by some very serious bands. Saturday brings Pink Floyd tribute band  Childhoods End, Allman Brothers cover band Peach Project, Whiskey River, and my boys, Crosseyed Cat. Sunday has both southern rock with The Ghost Riders, and Zeppelin tribute by Kashmir. Now that is a weekend of music. Good chance I am road tripping….

Where ever you, whatever you do, be safe, and be smart, as I want to see you all out and about next weekend.
