One of the best parts of summer is seeing and hearing all the amazing bikes that are out there. Even better, when you see a pack of one hundred or more, you know that it is a bunch of great people doing a ride for a great cause. And this weekend it will be a combination of great causes and and great rides.
Starting it off on Friday, The American Legion Riders are teaming up with Connecticut Cruise News for Mega Bike Night at Smiley’s Hot Dogs Plaza in Thomaston. They will have over 30 trophies,DJ, vendors, giveaways, The Haymond Law Firm Girls (c’mon, it’s Bike night…) and much more. This is a bike only event.
Next up is a great ride for all of you motorcycle enthusiasts. VetsFest 2010 is happening all day from noon until 10 PM. We will have a Touch-a-Truck event for the kids, featuring A & W Construction, The Guilford Police Department, and the Guilford Fire Department will have an ambulance on display, and the on duty firefighters will be shuffling various pieces of firefighting equipment to the show. A last minute addition to the show is the United States Coast Guard will be bringing one of their boats to the show with it’s crew. Oh, did I mention that we have SEVEN of the states best bands, food, vendors and a great field to boot?
Finally, on Sunday, The Multiple Sclerosis Society will be staging up at The Cadillac Ranch for their MS Motorcycle ride. Last years event had a big bad weather threat hanging over it, and yet over five hundred bikes still showed up. This year, the weather looks real nice, and a perfect day for you all to get the bikes out and do a little fund raising. Now, if you do not ride, you can follow the links to the MS Society and help out, and you can also find out where you can get copies of The Connecticut Cruise News. Obviously, we are all going to be working together, so look for more of these great events.
Oh, and here’s one for the road….
