Weekend Update: Time To Party

With Christmas right at our door, many of us are going to be out and about hitting all those house parties, and then off to out favorite watering hole to catch some of the best bands playing out. The police will be out in force, just doing their job, so know your limits, or have a designated driver. Remember, the cops want the people who don’t know when to stop, or don’t care to.

Both nights this weekend are packed with bands, so I am just touching some of the highlights. Follow me on Twitter (Ct_Shoreline) as I will be tweeting all the shows I can get my hands on. But let’s get this started.

Friday Night Fast Lane is at Testa’s in Southington, Pocket Full of Soul is at The Frog Pond in Stratford, Liplock puts one on at Z’s on Campbell Ave in West Haven. One of my top ten bands is also playing out. The All In Band is at Central Cafe in Plainville. The reason why these guys are so in the top ten is that the their play list goes from Black Eyed Peas to Metallica, and they hit everything dead on. Not just instrumentally, but vocally as well. Transitions are seamless, and harmonies spot on. Trust me, this is a band you have to catch.

Saturday night is going to be one of those nights where I want to be in 12 towns at once, but, I will have to pick my spots. Thinking if I time it right, I should be able to catch 4 bands. My old friends, The Funk Brokers,Inc, will be at The Downtown Cafe in Bristol, Bad Rooster is at Jake’s in Wallingford, and Freeplay is totally shredding Daniel Street in Milford.

Now my Saturday night starts with a house party early, and then to Augur’s Irish Pub in Guilford to see Those Two Guys. From there I am going up the road a bit to catch the first part of The Country Tavern’s Christmas Party with Sandy Connally aka The Tune Chic, and her band. From there I motor over to Branford to catch Mean Carlene as they take on Eli’s on the Hill. Then back to the CT/Augur’s for a few, and then finishing up at Donahue’s Madison Beach Grill to totally funk up the night with The Michael Cleary Band. Now some of you are saying no way he hits all these shows, but trust me, where there’s a will, there’s a way….
