Corina Alvarezdelugo: Encaustic Art, Printmaking, and Youth Artist Workshops

Corina is a Venezuelan born – international sculptor and mixed media painter as well as an art educator. Her studio and personal gallery space in Branford, CT offers various youth and adult art classes as well as extensive workshops from encaustic media to solar plate etching and printmaking.

The Youth art classes are divided into two groups, Little Artists ages 4-7 which are held on Tuesdays from 4 to 6pm and Young Artists ages 8-12 which are held on Thusdays from 5:00 to 7:00pm. In these classes the child is exposed to the arts in a rich and creative environment. From drawing, to painting, to mixed media, to the use of a grid to create a balanced composition, to background treatments, to collage… each day the child will be introduced to a different media and its techniques, in order to develop his/her own creativity. For all youth classes materials are included.

Adult classes include a life drawing group, encaustic painting, basic drawing, and mixed media techniques. The studio is also opened for those who wish to have monitored session time in the studio for encaustic and printmaking. The life drawing groups meets every Monday from 10am to 1pm with an experienced model in every session. The Encaustic painting classes will offer a brief history, and review of safety practices, after which students will start a series of hand-on projects, on an on-going basis. Along the course you will be introduced to contemporary artists who currently use this versatile medium to open up discussions and expand your creativity. You will work with encaustic techniques including brushing, pouring, dipping, incising, stencil, collage, image transfer, encaustic monotype and more. All tools and collage material will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own “toner” photocopies, or other materials, as well as found objects that you may want to incorporate into your works. Encaustic classes are held Mondays from 4:00 to 7:00pm beginning on Sept 17 through Nov 12 and on Thursdays from 9:30am to 12:30pm Sept 20 through Nov 8. Late comers are welcome! I am not an artist but have painted designs on furniture, dabbled in water color.I am interested in your classes but a beginner class, When will you start your next class and what supplies would I need.
